Sept 6th 2002 river level

Boundary Creek

my first ever trip as a captain of a craft.  that's my jag upside down there while i rub some 303 on the bottoms of the tubes.  trust me that in low water 303 helps a bunch.

the ramp at boundary surprised me.  i figured the road would be at river level.   since it's not i was glad for the ramp. ;)

Pistol Creek

pistol creek was the end of a very long first day at such a low water level.  i don't think i could have gone much farther. ;)

white creek was the next camp for us.  fresh bear crap made me nervous and i left a lantern burning all night so i could see any shadows of lurking bears.  none came out to play.

Elk Bar

elk bar was/is a great camp, even better at low water.  due to the people i was boating with and the low water the named rapids on this trip just didn't seem that big of a deal.  i never knew when i was at a named or no-name rapid anyway.  i was just following blake or dave and doing my best to keep from getting hung up.

Dinner at Elk Bar

elk bar camp activity, waiting for the food!  finally dinner is served.

Group at Elk Bar

you would think we had drown three people by some of the smiling faces here.

Parrott Cabin

kyle sticks his head out of parrots cabin at the entrance to parrot's grotto.

this was a great first raft trip and it set in motion my next addiction after falconry.   i have come to love the later season, low water trips every bit as much as the higher water trips, but i do admit you work hard to get down the river when it's lower than 2 feet.
